Randa Fox

My name is Randa Fox and at the age of 54, have discovered my purpose in this life. Stop sexually abusing our children. Our generation - we have the technology, the data, and the numbers of adult survivors of sexual abuse to make a difference. Over 42,000,000 adults in the USA alone were sexually molested as children.

My name is Randa Fox and I am the Executive Director of NOOW, which stands for Not on Our Watch.  Randa Fox, Jessica Carmeci, and Jennifer Blystone are the foundation upon which our organization began.  We are a seedling organization, but look forward to doing amazing things through honest dialogue, education and proclamation.  Randa was sexually molested by her father between the 3rd and 6th grade.  Recently Randa met a 9 year old girl who had the courage to break the SILENCE and let her parents know she was being molested. She is one of Randa's heroes.  Randa, Jesse and Jenny (et al) decided to make our vision a reality by finding our voice. Randa realizedvthat there arevover 42,000,000 VOICES  who, as adults, were sexually molested as children in America alone.  Imagine if every ADULT who has ever been molested as a child told their story. Over 42 MILLION of us. What a powerful gift we could give to this world by being our own witness to our lives, and finding our VOICE, telling the facts, and educating EVERYONE. It's going to happen. And I've got a good 40 years left on me and I am dedicated to making a difference in my lifetime.  I look forward to passing the torch on to the next generation.

Executive Director at NOOW

May 2011

NOOW is a seedling organization whose mission is to help educate children, teenagers, adults and senior citizens about the reality of sexual abuse against children. The statistics show that well over 90% of pedophiles will be someone you and your child know and often times are related to. Along with education, we must focus on how we elect local and state judges. The realization of how they can affect our every day life should put this on the top of our list of importance. This also must include lawmakers who are able to pass bills more in line with a society that believes in human rights, especially for children. We want to break the silence that predators COUNT on. The time to break the SILENCE is NOOW. Another piece of this huge puzzle is to ask adults who were molested as children to come forward and tell their story, when they are ready. But in the meantime, I'll use my voice. It's imperative that we, as adult survivors of sexual abuse, find our voice, and in turn, we will be protecting the next generation and the next. Even with the fiscal strain on state and local budgets, this is an opportune time for community and state leaders to shift other resources our government has, including health and human services resources, toward prevention. The case for prevention that strengthen families and promotes healthy development of children and youth is what NOOW stands for. There is data accumulated that can be used for prevention and early intervention for young children and their families. It begins with us. Parents and other adults must understand they are not alone in raising their children. As we learn to reach out for help, we will also learn to offer help. Let’s start now before we are in a crisis mode. Not every parent has extended family to help them out. It begins in our community. It starts with us - drawing on the informal support groups that exist now, we can become a families’ first line of defense in times of crisis.

Southwest Regional Director at STOP ABUSE CAMPAIGN

2011

The Stop Abuse Campaign’s primary strategies to stop abuse: Educate all adults on how to create safe environments for themselves and those that they love. Provide easy access to enhanced mental health treatment to all survivors who need it. Ensure all abuse is reported into the system and effectively handled. Recruit America’s adults to the movement to stop abuse. Our investments will reflect these priorities. The Campaign’s bylaws call for 50% of unallocated dollars to be invested in supporting causes. The Campaign will issue grants annually against the four priorities above against a range of domestic and international investments in stopping abuse. 20% of grant funding will be invested overseas in growing the movement. If we only do these few things, we will begin to make significant ground toward our mission of stopping abuse, but to accomplish this, we have to recruit America to the cause and that’s up to each and every one of us.
